DISTORTED SELF -IMAGE

DISTORTED SELF-IMAGE is a mixed media concept that I have created by manipulating my own photography in order to portray the idea that we all distort the concept of ourselves in some way. I distorted each photo in a unique way to represent the fact that the image we have built of ourselves is conceptualized in our minds and yet can be seen in many different ways by both ourselves and others. What we see in the mirror is only a reflection and not necessarily our true self. We all want to project the greatest version of ourselves to the world, yet our self-perception is often inaccurate and distorted. That projection is undoubtedly skewed - either for better or for worse. We often have a mistaken idea of not only who we think we are, but how we are viewed as well. The challenge for all of us is that our self-image is ever-changing.
